Hey y’all! Well, we’ve done the work, magnetized the tunes (or digitized as it were these days), designed the art, and now we’re just saying a little prayer and sending it out into the world on July 12! Keep watch on this page as it morphs into the home for BEST BEASTS!! Thanks for listening!
Hey y’all! I’m excited to share this new tune from the sessions for the next album. “What We Saw” was co-written with my friends Nicolette Good, Charlie Harrison, Tommy Lewis and Shawn Parks at our semi-weekly Houston songwriter get-together. We kinda tapped into our collective experiences to write about why we feel the way we do these days. You can check it out here: https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/mattharlan22
Take it easy…see y’all around, -matt
Eight 30 Records is pleased to announce that it has signed Matt Harlan! The Houston-based singer-songwriter plans to release his forthcoming as-yet-untitled new album on the Austin-based label in Spring 2019. “”I’ve been involved in a few Eight 30 projects before and I really dig their approach to making and releasing records,” Harlan says. “They really get me and what I’m trying to do, which goes a long way when you’re putting something you care about into the world. I can’t wait to get into the studio and lay down the new songs I’ve been writing and give ’em a proper send-off.”
Harlan joins banjo virtuoso Danny Barnes and celebrated songwriters Chris Fullerton and Emily Herring as artists on the label, which has released the tributes Cold and Bitter Tears: The Songs of Ted Hawkins, Dreamer: A Tribute to Kent Finlay, Highway Prayer: A Tribute to Adam Carroll and the recent Floater: A Tribute to the Tributes to Gary Floater, all produced by label co-owners Jenni Finlay and Brian T. Atkinson.
Well, it has been a part of me for more than a decade, but if shaving it off can help raise some money for folks that need it, I’m down to lose the beard for a good cause. I’ve joined up with a boat-load (big boat) of Texas musicians to raise $30,000.00 for RebuildTx.org by November 1st. If we hit the goal, some iconic hairy faces will be baby-smooth again. Check out https://www.gofundme.com/chinmusic and see all the face fur that’s on the line!
Well, it was definitely surprising to get an email from the Indie Acoustic Project that our last album, ‘In the Dark’ is in the running for 2016 album of the year in the Alt-Country category! Honored to be considered among Dori Freeman’s breezy, self-titled, folk-country outing and Kristen Foreman’s edgier, maybe a bit poppier, ‘Feather Tattoo’.
